Overview
A charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime. Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.
I’ve never imagined liking a movie with Sandler this much. One of the best movies in years. The whole script is based on one man’s suddenly collapsing life, and executed so well that I don’t know another movie being so good in this department. The amount of tension and nerves is insane. The actors were shouting over each other the whole time, which is an easy way to spoil the movie, but it only adds up to the experience. Sandler absolutely killed it in this one, and Safdies returned with an uncut gem after their already solid “Good Time”.
