Von Trier wanted to make this a 5 hour long movie, but had to split it. Such a commitment to the topic of nymphomania. But what he got is rather a poetic tale about two different humans. Not exactly the thing you’d like to see in this movie, heh. There are enough of sex scenes and I see the effort to make it look shocking and a drive for the movie, but it isn’t. The best part is cinematography and strong character study.

Not sure if I agree with people saying the second part is worse. It continues the story in the same fashion and has a great ending.
