2016
Comedy, Drama

During a dinner, a group of friends decide to share whatever text message or phone call they will receive during the evening – and all hell breaks loose.

Entertaining and well-executed movie with a meaning. The ending is a bit too clever that I needed to Google for explanation, but it’s a good film anyway.

Adventure, Comedy, Drama

Ricky is a defiant young city kid who finds himself on the run with his cantankerous foster uncle in the wild New Zealand bush. A national manhunt ensues, and the two are forced to put aside their differences and work together to survive.

Much better than Jojo Rabbit, which I turned off after a few minutes. In contrast, this one is clever, unique and heartfelt, and the actors are simply great.

2015
Comedy

What if Apollo 11 never actually made it? What if, in reality, Stanley Kubrick secretly shot the famous images of the moon landing in a studio, working for the US administration? This is the premise of a totally plausible conspiracy theory that takes us to swinging sixties London, where a stubborn CIA agent will never find Kubrick but is forced to team up with a lousy manager of a seedy rock band to develop the […]

Stoner hippie comedy about Moon landing? Yep. The soundtrack and acting are good, the story has all the movie needs and everything is just hilarious.

God lives in Brussels. On Earth though, God is a coward, with pathetical morals and being odious with his family. His daughter, Ea, is bored at home and can’t stand being locked up in a small apartment in ordinary Brussels, until the day she decides to revolt against her dad…

An improvement from Mr. Nobody, which was too experimental for my taste. This one is lighter, less pretentious, but not less rich in its ideas. And it also has a…

Action, Comedy

Dave Skylark and his producer Aaron Rapaport run the celebrity tabloid show “Skylark Tonight”. When they land an interview with a surprise fan, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, they are recruited by the CIA to turn their trip to Pyongyang into an assassination mission.

Woah, this one was hyped to the max, and it isn’t so badass like the marketing wants you to believe. It’s a good funny movie with a great acting combo…

2013
Comedy, Drama

Ruthless dominatrixes pursue a mild-mannered salesman who wants to get out of his unbreakable contract with a secret bondage club.

*ahem* Well, I watched the trailer and then just had to see this, what can I do. And… it’s is even more original than it looks like. Too original. You…

2008
Comedy, Science Fiction

80’s pop icon Gilles Gabriel is about to make a comeback in the French music scene, until he accidentally hits Ranu, a slightly nutty accountant, when out driving one day. Both are horrified to realise that Gilles died in the crash, and that his spirit now lives in Ranu’s head! The kooky accountant’s life soon becomes chaos!

Modern cinema where the Frenchmen exceeded the bounds of their typical movies. It could be said that the main actor did most of the work, but I always like to…

When 19-year-old Adam agrees to do a day’s driving for his mum’s gangster boyfriend Peter, it takes him on a 24-hour journey into a nightmarish world of murder, sex trafficking and revenge, in the company of aging hit man Roy.

Something different than lots of the movies baked in the Hollywood’s kitchen. It doesn’t have a mind-blowing scenario or idea, but it’s fresh and keeps you watching. I enjoyed the…

Horror, Comedy

A new drug promises out-of-body experiences, but users are coming back changed forever, and an otherworldly invasion of Earth is underway.

Just like the title, this movie is hilarious and great. The best thing is how they keep stupid faces no matter what, but never crosses the line into the stupid…

2012
Comedy, Crime

A struggling screenwriter inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends kidnap a gangster’s beloved Shih Tzu.

A lighter version of In Bruges, from the same director. The scenario is above average for these kind of movies – funny and not too stupid – but the cast…
