Overview
Casey is attacked at random on the street and enlists in a local dojo led by a charismatic and mysterious Sensei in an effort to learn how to defend himself. What he uncovers is a sinister world of fraternity, violence and hypermasculinity and a woman fighting for her place in it.
Almost the kind of black comedy I like, which doesn’t go as smooth as I want to. The director got over-creative and lost the control a bit. You can also spot similarities with Fight Club, and the twist is predictable after all. So why did I like this movie? Well, it’s still intelligent, funny and relaxing, has a great acting and a meaning, which is rare for this kind of movies.
